Our dentists have been serving the local community of Moonee Ponds, Essendon, Ascot Vale and surrounds for decades at their previous location at Moore Street Dental. They bring many years of experience, and remain committed to providing the same high level of service to their patients as ever. The new Mason Square Dental facility provides everyone with the opportunity of receiving this care in a stunning modern environment with the latest technology and equipment.

OUR DENTISTS

Dr Shelly Finnerty
BSc (Melb), BDSc (Melb)
Shelly graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science in 1996, and then completed her Bachelor of Dental Science in 1998. Immediately after graduation, she headed to Wangaratta, where she was able to obtain experience in all aspects of general practice. She then headed overseas to the UK for 2 years, where she obtained further experience, both privately and in the NHS.
She joined Moore Street Dental in 2003, and settled into the team immediately. In 2012, Shelly became a business partner in Moore Street Dental, and upon Dr Peter Johnson’s retirement in 2018, became the Practice Principal at MSD. She has worked hard to modernise the practice and arrange for the move into the stunning new facility at Mason Square Dental. She will continue to build and develop both the practice and her skills to provide the best possible environment and care for her patients into the future
She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with a particular interest in endodontics. She is highly professional, honest and ethical, and endeavours to always get the best results for her patients.
Outside of work, she enjoys going to the Australian Open tennis, as well as going hiking and spending time with friends. Photography and travelling are passions, and she enjoys sharing some of her photographs with patients, and discussing her latest adventures.

Dr Samantha Lew
BDSc (Melb), MPH (Monash)
Samantha graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Hons), in 2010. She joined Moore Street Dental in 2011 and has been a valuable member of our team ever since. In 2018 she completed her Masters in Public Health at Monash University.
She has a broad skill set, and is particularly good managing children. She is actively involved in the Victorian branch of the Australian Dental Association, and sits on the Oral Health Committee. She has in the past volunteered her time in providing dental care to remote communities and continues to work in community health. She is highly professional and ethical, and endeavours to always get the best results for her patients.
Samantha enjoys travelling, spending time with family and is trying to develop her limited gardening skills.

Dr Frances Shearer
BDS (Adel)
After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2010, Dr Frances stayed on to work in private practice in Adelaide for several years before relocating to Melbourne to pursue post graduate studies at Melbourne University.
She worked at several regional and CBD practices in Victoria before joining our team.
Frances endeavours to create a positive patient experience through her warm and gentle nature, whilst providing the highest standard of dental care.
Frances’ special interests lie in rehabilitating broken down, worn or discoloured teeth through careful planning and treatment.
She is committed to furthering her knowledge and regularly attends courses to keep up to date with the latest technologies and procedures.

Dr James Rich
BSc (Monash), BDSc (Melb)
James graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Science in 1993, and the University of Melbourne with his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1996. He worked in country Victoria and Adelaide for the first six years of his career, before joining Moore Street Dental in 2002. He has travelled extensively, including a hiatus in Scotland in 2005.
James is skilled in all aspects of general dentistry, and brings his unique sense of humour to work every day, and can always be relied upon to make his patients relaxed and comfortable in the surgery. He is ethical and honest and endeavours to always get the best results for his patients.
Outside of work, James is a devoted family man, and enjoys travelling, and watching rugby – although unfortunately, he supports the All Blacks. James is excited to make the move to modern Mason Square dental and continue his ongoing commitment to excellence of care.

Dr Hana Sekiguchi
BDSc (Melb)
Hana graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2010. Since then she has worked in both rural and metropolitan practices in Victoria. She is passionate about caring for her patients and giving back to the community and has been involved in volunteer work in several countries including East Timor and Cambodia as well as rural Australia.
She enjoys practising all aspects of general dentistry, with particular interests in paediatric and restorative dentistry. She keeps up to date through continuing education courses. In her free time Hana enjoys spending time with friends and going to Sunday markets with family.

Support Staff
Our support staff team are Kim, Jane, Ursula, Monica, Fiona & Lily. All our staff have received extensive training to help make your visit with us as pleasant and safe as possible. We have regular training updates on managing medical emergencies and infection control and are committed to best practice in health and safety for patients and staff alike.
